Forest School offers opportunities to develop self confidence and self esteem through hands-on learning in a wooded environment. The children initiate their own learning and development and take appropriate risks. It allows creative engagement with their peers as they participate in various planned activities. Forest School encourages them to develop a strong positive relationship with nature, appreciating and caring for the environment. Practical life skills are learnt, using tools where appropriate as the children enjoy, learn and develop.
Susanna Morgan plans our weekly Forest School sessions, having gained her Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification in early 2016. We change the day on which we run the sessions regularly to try and ensure that all children are included. We provide all-in-one waterproof suits if needed, otherwise your child will need to wear long sleeved tops and trousers on Forest School days.
Bad weather does not stop us running Forest School as the children wear appropriate clothes. High winds are the only factor which would cause us to cancel a session.
The children learn so much from the changing seasons with their different smells, textures, sounds and tastes. Children and practitioners alike have plenty of opportunities to create, share and develop ideas.
